Well would you look at that? The Visit Guelph Guide is out!
This is the first year they’ve decided to do a Fall edition and I was chuffed to be asked to design and illustrate this edition. Chock-o-block full of stuff to do, eat, and see. From tasting tours, to letterpresses, from farmers’ markets to film festivals, this guide covers it all. Aaaand, perhaps the *most* important, is the thrifting section. Its all about where to get it, and what to look for. Designer, vintage, haute couture and faux couture, the pros know honey.
So pick up a guide and *get your thrift on.* Read More
Let me explain…
As mentioned in el bio, I had been Pigeon Design Lab for the last nine years. (After my son’s nickname). However, this year, a much bigger pigeon came along and said I can’t be a pigeon anymore. And so, my fine-feathered friends, I wanted to have a little *fun* killing off this pigeon o’ mine.
I figure if a cat has nine lives than a Pigeon has to have at *least* four - right? This series I titled #deathofapigeon while I mulled over what the next rendition would be. I staggered the release of them every Monday and hashtagged them #mondaymournings - see what I did there? Of course you did, honey we *get* each other.
Quite honestly, this was a *crappy* thing that happened, so I tried to use allll those therapy clichés to get through it. I *sat with it*, I *reframed*, I *unpacked my feelings* … and in the end, a good ‘ol self-deprecating cocktail always takes the edge off.
‘El hath no fury like an illustrator scorned.

Another Design agency has claimed trademark ownership of the word *pigeon*. Aaaaannnd threatening litigation if I don’t give up the bird.
Ridiculous? Yes. Annoying? For sure. What do you do when a *much* bigger pigeon comes along flapping their wings at you? And do I *want* to go through a legal battle for the rat of birds? To be honest, at first I did. As some of you know, my company is named after my son’s nickname - Pigeon (Pidge for short). But then a wonderful designer friend ✨ told me that “my clients don’t really care what the name of my brand is, because *I* am my brand. Anaaaad there’s Oprah AHA moment I needed to get perspective.🙌
I am really grateful to work in this industry of creatives, and I truly believe I have the *best* clients out there💕. So everyone, thanks for coming along with me on this journey as Pigeon Design Lab. It’s been great to *ruffle some feathers* together. Over the next month or so look out for a new brand from me. I will do my best to reach out to all my lovely clients, but if you’d like to share this and let others know that Pigeon Design Lab will be flying the coop, it would make things easier on my carrier pigeon.💌
Thanks everyone. Big love.
